Dental Bridges

Struggling with one or more deeply decayed, missing, or severely broken teeth? It’s time to visit NÜVA Smile.

Whether you’re looking for a traditional or implant-supported bridge, we can help.

The Basics

of Dental Bridges

Purpose

We use custom restorations called dental bridges to replace one to three consecutive teeth. Our New Jersey dentistry practice offers both traditional dental bridges or implant-supported bridges. Traditional bridges consist of replacement teeth supported by dental crowns placed on adjacent teeth; implant-supported bridges are anchored directly to the jawbone using dental implants.

Candidacy

We commonly use bridges when our dental patients are missing one tooth or multiple teeth in a row. In many cases, bridges are used to replace severely damaged or decayed teeth after extractions. Implants have their own candidacy requirements, which we can evaluate during your visit.

Benefits

With a new bridge, you can experience restored function and better oral health. Plus, the natural-looking appearance of your restoration can boost your confidence.

Do I Need a Bridge

or a Dental Crown?

What Are My Dental Options?

Our dentistry practice with offices throughout New Jersey offer two different kinds of bridges: traditional bridges and dental implant-supported bridges:

Traditional Bridges

When we place traditional bridges, we attach them to the natural teeth on each side of the space in your smile using dental crowns. Compared to implant-supported bridges, they tend to be more affordable, but require the alteration of healthy teeth to accommodate crowns.

Implant-Supported Bridges

Implant-supported bridges are secured by dental implants (prosthetic tooth roots made of titanium). Though dental implants are not always covered by insurance, they're an excellent investment in your oral health that provides superior stability and prevents jawbone atrophy. The bridge itself will likely qualify for insurance coverage.

What to Expect

When Receiving a Dental Bridge

Just by reading this page, you’re one step closer to finding the care you need. Wondering how bridge treatment works? We customize each plan to the patient’s needs, but you can typically expect your experience to go something like this:

Patients who choose implant-supported bridges will undergo two minor surgical procedures with three to six months of healing time to place the dental implants.

Dental Consultation

We'll begin each consultation by listening to your concerns. Then, we'll assess your smile, take images, and form a treatment plan.

Patients who choose implant-supported bridges will undergo two minor surgical procedures with three to six months of healing time to place the dental implants.

Dental Anesthetic

Worried about pain? Our understanding dentists use local anesthetic for more comfortable care.

Supplementary Care

If you need an extraction or treatment for issues like gum disease, these will be completed before you receive your bridge.

Tooth Preparation

We will prepare the teeth on either side of the gap in your smile. This involves altering the tooth structure to accommodate dental crowns.

Temporary Bridge

You don't have to go home without a complete smile. We can provide a temporary bridge to wear while your permanent bridge is being crafted.

Fabrication

Our dentists will plan your bridge based on digital imaging and impressions of your bite. After it has been created, you can return to our office to have it placed.

Bridge Attachment

We'll position your bridge over each prepared tooth. We'll attach it securely into place, ensuring afterwards that the fit is comfortable and precise. Then, we'll make sure you're happy with your new bridge and answer any final questions.

Simple Steps You Can Take

To Protect Your Bridge

Attend Dental Exams

Trusting our New Jersey dentists for biannual exams can help your bridge last many years. Since we placed your bridge, we're the ideal choice to clean and monitor it.

Brush and Floss

You should brush and floss your bridge thoroughly to ensure that your teeth and gums stay healthy. Our dentists will teach you how to maintain your bridge through daily care.

Act Mindfully

You can protect your new dental bridge by exercising mindful habits. Never use your teeth as tools, and be careful whenever eating sticky or tough foods.
