Dental Bridges
Struggling with one or more deeply decayed, missing, or severely broken teeth? It’s time to visit NÜVA Smile.
Whether you’re looking for a traditional or implant-supported bridge, we can help.
The Basics
of Dental Bridges
Purpose
We use custom restorations called dental bridges to replace one to three consecutive teeth. Our New Jersey dentistry practice offers both traditional dental bridges or implant-supported bridges. Traditional bridges consist of replacement teeth supported by dental crowns placed on adjacent teeth; implant-supported bridges are anchored directly to the jawbone using dental implants.
We commonly use bridges when our dental patients are missing one tooth or multiple teeth in a row. In many cases, bridges are used to replace severely damaged or decayed teeth after extractions. Implants have their own candidacy requirements, which we can evaluate during your visit.
With a new bridge, you can experience restored function and better oral health. Plus, the natural-looking appearance of your restoration can boost your confidence.
Do I Need a Bridge
or a Dental Crown?
If a tooth is damaged but does not need to be extracted, we can repair it with a dental crown. However, if you are missing one to three consecutive teeth, or those teeth require extraction, a bridge may be a better solution. A single missing tooth can also be replaced with a crown and implant. If you are missing most or all of your teeth, we can provide a denture.

What Are My Dental Options?
Traditional Bridges
When we place traditional bridges, we attach them to the natural teeth on each side of the space in your smile using dental crowns. Compared to implant-supported bridges, they tend to be more affordable, but require the alteration of healthy teeth to accommodate crowns.
Implant-Supported Bridges
Implant-supported bridges are secured by dental implants (prosthetic tooth roots made of titanium). Though dental implants are not always covered by insurance, they're an excellent investment in your oral health that provides superior stability and prevents jawbone atrophy. The bridge itself will likely qualify for insurance coverage.
