Choose a Practice

That Addresses Common Concerns Head-on

You don’t want to wait around if you’re having tooth trouble. If nerves are keeping you from finding the care you need, let us put those fears to rest. We help patients find solutions for concerns like:

Discomfort

Going to the dentist doesn't have to be uncomfortable. Before we extract wisdom teeth, damaged teeth, or decayed teeth, we will safely numb the area with dental anesthetic.

Complexity

No need to refer out to a local oral surgeon—our dentists can handle both simple and complex tooth extraction cases. They can also offer wisdom teeth extraction.

Response Time

Timing can make all the difference. With that in mind, we maintain a 24/7 call center. Even when our offices are not open, you still have a way to reach out to us at any time and get the ball rolling.

Concerned with the state of your tooth or teeth? Our New Jersey-area team can alleviate your stress, starting with a consultation. You can call the office closest to you or send us a message to begin.

How Can I Pay for

My Tooth Extraction?

Dental Insurance

Insurance assists with the cost of tooth extraction because serious injuries and decay can affect your health, oral function, and quality of life. Our practice accepts most providers, and we may even be able to bill your medical insurance when applicable.

Financing

From extraction, to implants, to restorations, CareCredit® financing can help our New Jersey patients afford the treatment they need. In select cases, we may also offer in-house financing directly from NÜVA Smile.

Cash or Card

We take cash, as well as most major credit cards. Patients can use them to cover their extractions in full, or they can use them to supplement financing or insurance.

What Should I Expect

During a Tooth Extraction?

We’ll always choose to save your teeth if we can, performing treatments like root canal therapy or crown placement. If you do need an extraction though, here’s how our New Jersey dentists may help.

Your extraction consultation may be free, depending on the offers available at your local NÜVA Smile office.

Dentistry Consultation

Knowing which treatment you may need can be confusing. Only a dentist or oral surgeon will be able to tell you for sure. Our dentists will examine your affected tooth, as well as your other teeth, using panoramic X-rays and/or digital X-rays to help find the right solution.

Your extraction consultation may be free, depending on the offers available at your local NÜVA Smile office.

Dental Anesthetic

Your comfort always comes first. Our compassionate dentists will apply dental anesthetic before beginning any treatment.

Extraction

Once we've confirmed that you're completely numb, we will begin your extraction. This could involve simply removing the tooth from its socket, but we may need to separate the tooth into smaller pieces first, depending on the complexity of your case. Either way, the most you will likely feel is a small bit of pressure.

Final Extraction Steps

Our dentist will clean the extraction site. They may also place gauze over your tooth. Then, they'll go over your recovery instructions and answer any final questions that you may have.

Restorations

Once your mouth has healed, we can plan your new smile. Luckily, we feature a variety of options, like crownsbridges, and dentures. We can place implants in-house to stably secure each restoration, or we can guide you towards a traditional bridge or denture.

What Do I Need to Do

During Tooth Extraction Recovery?

Our New Jersey dentists will go over the do’s and don’t’s of recovery in detail. Until then, though, here are a few things that you can do to ensure smooth sailing after a tooth extraction.

Take Antibiotics

In some cases, our New Jersey dentists may prescribe antibiotics after your extraction. Remember to take them as directed and to take the full course you are prescribed.

Wear Gauze

It's common for dentists to place gauze over an extraction site to minimize bleeding. We will instruct you on how long to wear the gauze, as well as answer any questions.

Eat & Drink Mindfully

Make sure to avoid using straws after your extraction. You should also eat soft, room-temperature food, like applesauce or eggs, in the days following your treatment.

You Can Protect Yourself

From Dry Socket

With good at-home care, complications from tooth extractions tend to be minimal. We believe in doing our due diligence and giving you all the information to succeed, which is why we want to take a moment to talk about dry socket.

Bleeding is normal after tooth extraction. This bleeding actually allows an essential blood clot to form over the extraction site. The clot helps protect the area and streamline the healing process. When the blood clot is dislodged, patients can experience a painful but treatable condition called dry socket. It can be prevented by following common post-extraction instructions, like not using straws and hot avoiding foods.

If you notice the signs of dry socket, contact our New Jersey dentists immediately. We’re always here to help.
